Take a Day Trip to Williamsburg

At Boone Homes, we pride ourselves in the new home communities that we build in in.  One of the best things about living near Richmond, Virginia is the proximity to the city, beach AND mountains.  Williamsburg is located about 45 minutes east from Richmond, VA and makes for the perfect day trip for you and your partner or the whole family! Take a drive and explore the Historic Triangle, indulge in local treats or spend the day at one of the amusement parks. There is truly something everyone will enjoy.

For the History Buffs

Colonial Williamsburg is the largest living history museum in the world along with two world-class art museums. Colonial Williamsburg has a plethora of seasonal activities and special events - there is always something new to discover!

American Revolution Museum at York Town tells the story of America's founding through indoor exhibition galleries, films and outdoor experiences. 

Visit Historic Jamestowne to dive deep into Jamestown’s history through walking tours, exhibits and an award-winning archaeological museum. 

For the Thrill Seekers

Spend the day at Busch Gardens, a European-themed adventure park with over 50 rides and attractions, live stage shows, animal experiences, and delicious food and more. Busch Gardens has been voted 'most beautiful amusement park' for over 30 years!

Cool off this Summer at Water Country USA! The water park features mega-slides, child-sized slides, themed play areas, shallow pools, and a lazy river. 

For the Thirst Quenchers and Foodies

There are plenty of wineries and breweries to explore near and around Williamsburg. The Williamsburg Winery embraces the colonial look that you see throughout the town and their wine is top-notch! Saude Creek Vineyards has tons of outdoor seating with beautiful water views. Bring a picnic basket or grab lunch from one of the food trucks! Gauthier Vineyard is beautifully located on a working farm with patio seating and brick-oven pizzas and wings!

If beer is more your style, you’ll want to stop by Alewerks Brewing Company for their craft beer and famous soft pretzels paired with homemade beer cheese! Precarious Beer Hall, Brass Cannon Brewing and The Virginia Beer Company are also all must-trys! Joker’s Brewing is the first brewer of hard kombucha in Virginia! If you like kombucha, you’ll love their light and refreshing beverages. 

The Cheese Shop is hands down a Williamsburg local favorite. Stop in and grab all your charcuterie must-haves or indulge in one of their legendary mouth-watering sandwiches. The Fat Canary is perfect for those celebrating a special occasion or who wants to splurge on an award-winning bistro-style restaurant. If you are looking for a unique dining experience reserve a table at Cochon on 2nd. This restaurant features an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs prepare a variety of their classic dishes. Lastly, Fat Tuna is a locally owned family-friendly restaurant known for amazing seafood. You’ll leave full and happy for the drive home from any of these fan-favorite restaurants.
