Welcome to Goochland County! My name is Jeremy Raley, and I am the superintendent of our community’s public schools.
Goochland County Public Schools is dedicated to maximizing the potential of every learner and preparing the next generation to make a positive impact. When your child walks through our doors, we promise to provide a learning experience that will help them succeed in their academic career and beyond.
Niche.com ranks GCPS as the best school division with the best teachers in the Richmond area. Goochland is also 1 of only 15 Schools Divisions of Innovation in Virginia, recognizing us for innovation in instructional practices and structures that improve student learning and promote college and career readiness.
All 5 of our schools are Apple Distinguished Schools, meaning every preschool to 12th grade student has their own iPad or MacBook Air to support instruction and provide tools for success. There are less than 500 schools worldwide that have become Apple Distinguished schools.
Our high school has a strong tradition of excellence in extra-curricular activities, we have a robust fine arts program that includes drama at both the middle school and high school, and our athletic teams are extremely competitive, as evidenced by several recent state titles.
The future is looking bright for Goochland County Public Schools! Facility improvements are planned for the next five years with the addition of a new Career and Technical Education wing at Goochland High School and classroom upgrades for our fine arts program. As a growing community, we are thrilled to open a new elementary school in August 2024!
I am proud to be part of such an outstanding school division, and I encourage you to visit goochlandschools.org to learn more about our schools and academic programs.
