Calling all pumpkin enthusiasts! Glen Allen’s Great Pumpkin Palooza is happening on Saturday, Oct. 24. The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with a 5K run/walk, and the festival lasts from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This free, family-friendly fair is home to Richmond’s largest pumpkin-launching contest, as well as a variety of other pumpkin and fall-themed activities.
The Great Pumpkin Palooza, which benefits the American Cancer Society and other participating charities, offers local food and arts and crafts vendors, as well as live music throughout the day. Enjoy delicious food and beverages while shopping and listening to the battle of the bands.
There’s autumn fun for all ages with costume contests and parades happening throughout the event, so be sure to wear your best costume. Bring the whole family and enjoy all the fun fall festival activities like pumpkin painting, face painting, pony rides and the petting zoo.
The annual Punkin Dunkin contest is the highlight of the Palooza. Sign up with a team to design and build your own personal pumpkin catapult to bring to the contest, and launch your pumpkin into the air over Lake Rooty for a chance to win prizes.
More than 4,000 people are expected at this event, which takes place at 4951 Lake Brook Drive at Glen Allen’s Innsbrook venue. For more details about the event and registration for the 5K and Punkin Dunkin catapult contest, visit Innsbrook’s website at www.innsbrook.com.
