Richmond new home

Bridge in the Japenese Garden at Maymont.

If you are looking for some family fun near your Richmond new home, then Maymont invites you to walk through the Employees Only door and experience the Nature Center as you have never seen it before. Attendees ages five and older will get a firsthand look at the care required to maintain 13 aquariums and more than 200 animals. This fantastic event will be held Saturday, January 12 at 1:00 p.m. Cost is $6 per person and $3 if you are a member of the Maymont.

Maymont is a 100-acre American estate that was occupied by the Dooley family for 32 years before being turned into a museum shortly after the death of Mrs. Dooley. The Maymont Foundation took over responsibility of the museum in 1975 and extensive restoration and conservation has preserved the authenticity of the property. Today, museum visitors can take a tour of the mansion and other historical buildings, explore the natural environment of the James River, touch and feed domestic animals at the children’s farm, discover native Virginia wildlife, and spend time in the spectacular gardens.

The Maymont provides unique opportunities for families to enjoy Virginia’s rich history near their Richmond new home. Do not miss out on your opportunity to get a firsthand tour of what goes on behind the scenes at the Maymont. For more information on this amazing opportunity, visit www.maymont.org.
