Are you ready to go green? For St. Paddy’s Day, that is? The Richmond area is filled with all kinds of activities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, from family-friendly festivals and fundraisers, to authentic Irish feasts that would please Saint Patrick himself and pubs with plenty of green drinks. Here’s a quick run-down of some of the area’s biggest and best things to do this month to explore the area, have fun and celebrate the luck of the Irish.
1. Paddy’s Palooza: This exciting family-friendly festival brings together Richmond residents of all ages, with moon bounces, pony rides and a petting zoo, face painting, local craft vendors, live music, bagpipes and Irish dancers, all for a fantastic cause. St. Paddy’s Palooza benefits the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises funds to fight childhood cancers. There will be tons of food choices, provided by Grapevine Restaurant, Gregory’s Grill, Sticks Kebob, Sweet Lew’s Kettle Corn and Gelati Celeste, and refreshing green beverages (adult and kid-friendly) will be available. Enjoy special performances by St. Andrew’s Legion Pipes & Drums, Crossroads Irish Dance, and Thistle and Shamrock Dance Academy. The event takes place Saturday, March 12th, 2016 at the Innsbrook Pavilion, 4901 Lake Brook Dr. in Glen Allen. The St. Baldrick’s head shaving runs from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm; the festival is 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visit www.stbaldricks.org/events/richmond for details.
Marsha Pillow is Boone Homes’ newest Sales Associate. She is a seasoned sales professional in the new home market, having sold new homes for 12 years in the greater Richmond area.
Pillow has always enjoyed the real estate industry, especially working in new home construction. She also enjoys being involved with the marketing side of the business.
Pillow is well-suited for new home sales because of the fact that she is able to combine her love of people with her love of matching and creating a home for her customers. She simply enjoys spending time with others, and is skilled at listening to them and finding out about their wants and needs in a home. She enjoys doing the leg-work to find the home that is suited best for them, and making it unique, as it becomes their own design and plan.
With the end of summer comes the end of opportunities for buyers at the Founders Bridge Club Villas. There are only two new, energy-efficient homes remaining at the Founders Bridge Club Villas offering golf course views and luxury living.
These two homes are move-in ready, so buyers can move into their homes immediately upon closing and enjoy the swimming pool and tennis courts while the warm weather is still around.
The Club Villas at Founders Bridge is an intimate, maintenance-free community of all-brick, single-family, luxury Richmond custom homes located on the 13th and 16th fairways of Independence Golf Club.
With so many builders out there, it can be hard to know which one is the right choice. So when you find a builder that you can trust, sticking with them comes as second nature. Buyers have been deciding to buy from Boone Homes for years because of the quality and service provided, and when Alyssa Chalifoux enjoyed the building experience with Boone Homes the first go-round, she had no problem choosing them a second time:
“When we bought our first house by Boone Homes, we were both figuratively and literally building from the ground up. In a literal sense, we started from the dirt, and watched as Boone Homes built us a beautiful home. Figuratively, we were putting the future of our family’s residence in the hands of a builder that we had never worked with before. We didn’t know much about Boone Homes, but now we’re so glad that we built from the ground up with them.
Welcome the newest member of the Boone Homes family, Ashley Stefanko, Community Manager. Ashley brings a wide-ranging background of professional experience, having worked in several different industries and in companies ranging from local mom-and-pop shops to international Fortune 100 companies.
The homebuilding and real estate industry is her favorite industry, though, and she says she’s very happy to be back at “home” working in this industry, bringing experience working in marketing for another local developer of new home communities and a national home builder. Ashley joined the Boone Homes team earlier this month and is most excited about the opportunities she’ll have to help guide home buyers through the process of building a custom home with Boone Homes.
At Boone Homes, we pride ourselves in working with the top vendors in the residential real estate market. We ensure that each vendor we partner with offers the same values and commitment to customer service that buyers have come to expect from Boone Homes. One of our top building partners, LP® Building Products, is a global leader in engineered wood products, and it offers the best in innovative, high-quality, energy-efficient building materials.
Currently, all Boone homes are constructed using LP® SmartSide® Trim and Siding, as well as LP® TechShield® Radiant Barrier Roof Sheathing. Both products allow us to build energy efficiency right into the home, and they’re covered under outstanding warranties and product guarantees.
With communities located throughout the greater Richmond area, we have had the opportunity to work with some of the area’s best real estate talent. Working with these top agents ensures that our home buyers have an exceptional experience from the time they start their new home search until they receive the keys to their move-in ready home. Some of the most recent real estate professionals that we’ve had the pleasure of working with include:
Kai Pappas, real estate agent with RE/MAX Commonwealth.
At Boone Homes, we not only offer a variety of elegant home designs to choose from at all of our Richmond communities, but we also give buyers the opportunity to fully customize any of our plans to meet their needs. It’s what sets us apart from many of the new home builders in today’s market, and why we were recently featured in an article in the Richmond Times-Dispatch. The story highlighted buyers Mary and David Acey’s experience when they purchased and customized a new home at our Kinloch community in Goochland County last May.
In the article, the Aceys discussed their appreciation for Boone Homes’ professionalism and quality customer service. David Acey shared with the Richmond Times-Dispatch, “I felt like I was getting Rolls-Royce service,” and Mary Acey told the paper, “It’s the best building experience we have ever had.”
In addition to building luxury homes in Richmond’s most sought-after communities, we pride ourselves on also building some of Richmond’s most energy-efficient homes. From high-efficiency HVAC products to radiant barrier roof sheathing, we incorporate top-quality products designed to reduce energy costs for our homeowners.
One of the primary ways we work to ensure homeowner’s energy costs are reduced is by installing correctly sized HVAC systems. Correctly sized units can have a big impact on how much energy is used and how efficient the system is, which both play a role in providing homeowner’s with the ultimate in comfort and cost savings.
As a member of the Home Building Association of Richmond (HBAR), Executive Vice President Tim Parent recently volunteered to co-chair a committee dedicated to raise funds for a new “Welcome Home” program that was created in conjunction with the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation. Together, ASK and HBAR aim to ensure that children undergoing cancer and bone marrow treatments have a healthy, safe and accessible home to heal in.
James River Nurseries, a professional and commercial landscaping company that services the greater Richmond area, recently completed the landscaping at our new model home at Ellington Woods at Wyndham. Upon completion, James River Nurseries highlighted the project in a blog post and video on its website.
We have partnered with James River Nurseries for more than 25 years, which has allowed the landscaping company to see first-hand the success we’ve achieved in the Richmond real estate market, while also understanding what continually drives buyers to choose us as their home builder.
Boone Homes was excited to be included in Richmond Homes, a publication of Richmond Times-Dispatch, as the feature cover story on Sept. 27, 2014. The story, which discussed what no maintenance living really means, highlighted the many low-maintenance communities that we currently build in, including Bellingham in Twin Hickory, Tarrington on the James and Kinloch.
At each of these three communities, the fantastic homeowner’s association covers all or most of the following:
1. snow removal
2. yard maintenance
3. lawn irrigation
We are excited to introduce our three newest team members that have joined us in our journey to provide every buyer with the home of their dreams. Our team members are dedicated to assisting buyers throughout each step of the home buying and building process.
New Sales Associate Aaron Hood has been with Boone Homes for eight months, and buyers can find him in the model home at Tarrington on the James Villas in Midlothian. Hood has lived in Richmond for nine years and is very familiar with the greater metro area. In fact, Hood even graduated from nearby Deep Run High School in Glen Allen! After high school, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech in 2013.
Active adults and busy professionals alike will love the maintenance-free lifestyle that can be enjoyed with a new Coach Home at Kinloch. Located along the shore of one of Richmond’s best kept secrets, the 72-acre Broad Branch Lake, the Coach Homes at Kinloch allows owners to sit aside their snow shovels and yard tools so that they can enjoy living in this exceptional area.
Currently, we have two quick delivery homes available at Kinloch.
Presented by the Home Building Association of Richmond, the annual Richmond Homearama is being held May 1 through 18 this year. Let’s face it, not many people get excited for spring cleaning. Who can blame them? Tackling the whole house can be quite the project for most people, especially when the weather is finally nice enough to enjoy the outdoors.
Here are some tips for a thorough, yet simple spring cleaning of your Richmond new home:
Save time, prepare. Before you start cleaning, it is important to make sure you have the products needed to have a successful spring cleaning. Make a list of items you want to clean (rugs, windows, etc.) and then make another list of your preferred cleaning products for each project. No one wants to start cleaning and then stop because they don’t have something.
Spread it out. While many people like to set aside one day to take care of all of the spring cleaning, it is not necessary. Make a list of each room and spread them out over a week. That way you can spend around an hour a day cleaning and still have time to enjoy the spring weather.
De-clutter and donate! As you transition your fall and winter wardrobe to spring and summer, take the time to sort through your items. If you haven’t worn something in over a year, then it is a good time to toss it from your closet. If it is gently-used and in good condition, donate it to a local organization.
Brighten it up. Make sure to clean your windows both inside and out, so that natural light can shine through and brighten up your home. To add to the brightness, you can also update windows, comforters and other linens to exude a more spring-like feel inside your home.
When it comes to building your new home, Boone Homes chooses only the best products in order to build a home that is not only beautiful, but also high-quality enough to stand the test of time. When it comes down to deciding between fiber cement and LP® SmartSide® trim and siding, our choice is the latter.
Here are some reasons why LP® SmartSide® is our choice for building your dream home:
Impact Doesn’t Equal Damage – Throughout life, it is likely that your home will be hit by hail, golf balls, baseballs or rocks at some point. LP® SmartSide® is more resistant to these everyday hazards than fiber cement. Need proof? Watch the video above.
Realistic Wood Texture – If you like the look of wood, then LP® SmartSide® is perfect because of its more realistic wood texture.
Time Tested – When you purchase a new home, you expect it to last for years to come. LP® SmartSide® have been time tested and since 1997, more than 7 billion square feet of products have been manufactured and installed in more than 4 million homes.
Lighter Weight – With a lighter weight per foot, LP® SmartSide® is easier to carry and install. It is also stronger and doesn’t require special tools to install.
Color – LP® SmartSide® is less likely to lose its color than fiber cement which contains natural salts and minerals.
Less Seams – LP® SmartSide® is slightly longer than fiber cement leading to fewer seams or joints.
Warranty – LP® SmartSide® generally offers a longer limited warranty that most fiber cement warranties.
As 2013 came to a close, Richmond home builders have celebrated a successful year and are looking forward to an even better 2014. Richmond specifically is projected to have a phenomenal year and has been named one of the hottest housing markets in the nation according to CNN Money.
The list of the top 10 hottest housing markets was compiled based on CoreLogic Case-Shiller’s latest home price forecast and showcase the major metro areas that are expected to see the biggest increase in home prices.
Whether the Seahawks or Broncos win this Super Bowl Sunday, you can score a touchdown when you host a game day party for friends and family in your Richmond new home. From appetizers to dessert, our gourmet kitchens are the perfect place to whip up your party treats.
