Memorial Day is celebrated around world-wide in a variety of ways. Families spend the days in the backyard barbequing, friends gather for a day of golfing or fishing and everyone attends the parades within the area. However you choose to celebrate Memorial Day in Richmond, do so by honoring those who have lost their lives to give us freedom.

Richmond is flooded with the history of the Civil War and Memorial Day weekend will provide the perfect time to explore the many sights of this historic town. From Monument Avenue and the Richmond National Battlefield Park to the Virginia State Capital and Museum of the Confederacy, there is an infinite number of ways to explore the history of the Civil War and the city of Richmond. Memorial Day is more than the kickoff to summer and backyard barbecues. Memorial Day is set aside to honor those that served our country. Richmond residents can do this by attending a Remembrance Ceremony, or by touring one of the war memorials that pay tribute to our fallen heroes.

This Memorial Day weekend, take some time to celebrate the true reason for Memorial Day, and then celebrate the holiday with family or friends - our conveniently-located communities are near some of the best attractions!
