From the blossoming food scene, cultural arts, historic landmarks and the ever-growing appreciation for the James River, Richmond is being honored this year for many titles. Lonely Planet, a global travel guide publisher, has named Richmond among its top 10 U.S. destinations for 2018. Forbes rated it as one of the 10 coolest U.S. cities to visit in 2018; Expedia listed the city as one of 18 cities that must be seen in 2018 and finally, Southern Living magazine named the city as one of the 10 best places to travel in the South.

According to the article published by Forbes, Virginia’s historic capital is “buzzing with young energy and signature southern charm. Its culinary offerings are cutting-edge and reason enough to visit, with new restaurants popping up all the time.” The city truly has something for everyone, from the World’s Largest Slinky to rafting trips on the James River to Carytown shops. This year, theater enthusiast will be pleased to know there is an incredible lineup at Broadway in Richmond. Richmond is full of history with the American Civil War Museum, Richmond National Battlefield Park, and Hollywood Cemetery, the final resting place of two U.S. presidents. While its past is prominent, the city’s future is definitely bright.
