We are excited to announce that we will be constructing a new phase of homes at Kinloch, a luxury home development near West Creek. The new phase of 76 homes will back up to the 72-acre Broad Branch Lake, which makes up the heart of the Kinloch community.
The new homes in phase 8 at Kinloch will be reminiscent of the coach-style homes that are currently being offered in phase 6. We are working on new designs for this phase that will include both brick colonial and Tudor-style exteriors ranging from 3,500 to nearly 5,000 square feet. These age-targeted homes will be ideal for empty-nesters, as they will have first floor master suites and all exterior home maintenance and landscaping is taken care of. These new homes will range in price from $600,000 to $1 million.

Let’s face it, not many people get excited for spring cleaning. Who can blame them? Tackling the whole house can be quite the project for most people, especially when the weather is finally nice enough to enjoy the outdoors.
Here are some tips for a thorough, yet simple spring cleaning of your Richmond new home:
Save time, prepare. Before you start cleaning, it is important to make sure you have the products needed to have a successful spring cleaning. Make a list of items you want to clean (rugs, windows, etc.) and then make another list of your preferred cleaning products for each project. No one wants to start cleaning and then stop because they don’t have something.
Spread it out. While many people like to set aside one day to take care of all of the spring cleaning, it is not necessary. Make a list of each room and spread them out over a week. That way you can spend around an hour a day cleaning and still have time to enjoy the spring weather.
De-clutter and donate! As you transition your fall and winter wardrobe to spring and summer, take the time to sort through your items. If you haven’t worn something in over a year, then it is a good time to toss it from your closet. If it is gently-used and in good condition, donate it to a local organization.
Brighten it up. Make sure to clean your windows both inside and out, so that natural light can shine through and brighten up your home. To add to the brightness, you can also update windows, comforters and other linens to exude a more spring-like feel inside your home.
When it comes to building your new home, Boone Homes chooses only the best products in order to build a home that is not only beautiful, but also high-quality enough to stand the test of time. When it comes down to deciding between fiber cement and LP® SmartSide® trim and siding, our choice is the latter.
Here are some reasons why LP® SmartSide® is our choice for building your dream home:
Impact Doesn’t Equal Damage – Throughout life, it is likely that your home will be hit by hail, golf balls, baseballs or rocks at some point. LP® SmartSide® is more resistant to these everyday hazards than fiber cement. Need proof? Watch the video above.
Realistic Wood Texture – If you like the look of wood, then LP® SmartSide® is perfect because of its more realistic wood texture.
Time Tested – When you purchase a new home, you expect it to last for years to come. LP® SmartSide® have been time tested and since 1997, more than 7 billion square feet of products have been manufactured and installed in more than 4 million homes.
Lighter Weight – With a lighter weight per foot, LP® SmartSide® is easier to carry and install. It is also stronger and doesn’t require special tools to install.
Color – LP® SmartSide® is less likely to lose its color than fiber cement which contains natural salts and minerals.
Less Seams – LP® SmartSide® is slightly longer than fiber cement leading to fewer seams or joints.
Warranty – LP® SmartSide® generally offers a longer limited warranty that most fiber cement warranties.

While mortgage rates and new mortgage rules have real estate markets across the country concerned that the housing market will start to slow, economist David Crowe has confidence that the Richmond real estate market will continue to grow.
Crowe, the chief economist and senior vice president of the National Association of Home Builders, states that “housing growth depends on population growth” and in Richmond, the population is growing at nearly 5 percent per decade (according to the Greater Richmond Partnership). While some of this population growth can be attributed to growing families, it is also a result of new residents moving to Richmond. For example, 785 individuals moved from Charlottesville to Richmond in 2010, while only 610 moved from Richmond to Charlottesville.

For residents of Virginia, the day serves as not only a day to recognize the first President of the United States, but is also an opportunity to remember the other seven Presidents born in Virginia: Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Woodrow Wilson. This Monday, celebrate the Presidents who have served by visiting the Presidential Trail of Virginia.
