Summer is officially heating up, and while we love getting out and enjoying the beautiful weather and all the things to do in Richmond, the sunshine and warmer temperatures can have some pretty unfavorable consequences on your home’s monthly energy bill.
According to the National Association of Home Builders, newer homes average $241 a year to maintain while homes built in the 1980’s average $633 annually – that’s more than 2.5 times a newer home. Add that to the increase you’re likely to see during the summer months and you can see why it is important to have energy-efficient features built in to your home.
Available for immediate move-in, we currently have two quick delivery homes available in the Courtyard Homes in the Tarrington on the James community. These move-in ready, maintenance-free homes are perfect for growing families or those who desire a more relaxing lifestyle while maintaining proximity to all that Midlothian and the surrounding areas have to offer.
Priced at $559,950, a luxury move-in ready home on Lot 30 features the popular 3,008 square-foot Hampworth home plan.

When looking for a home to move into, it seems to always take a long time to find the one that has everything you want and the way you want it. Location, floor plan, appliances and so much more are the elements of the house you want but can’t find all together in one house. The solution: build a new house or buy a quick delivery home.
Boone Homes, a local Richmond home builder for almost 30 years, can cover both for you. Quick delivery homes are new homes that are already under construction and can be ready to be moved into within a few weeks or months. Buying a quick delivery home will reduce the amount of time it takes to build a home from scratch while still allowing you to select many of the features you want in your new home. This is one of the best routes you can go because you will get your new home quicker, and it will have everything you have been looking for since you personalize it yourself. It can also be less expensive and cause less stress than a new home.
What is the one thing everyone loves? It can be enjoyed with all types of food no matter the time of day: breakfast, lunch, dinner and even dessert. The answer, as you probably guessed by now is BACON.

The pairing of Serenity and Rose Quartz brings a sense of calm and relaxation into one’s home. Rose Quartz is like a gorgeous blush sunset, while Serenity is a naturally calming, ocean blue. Both colors work well in rugs and upholstery, wall paint and decorative accessories. The colors complement one another especially when combined in solids and patterns with different fabrics, bedding, throws and pillows, candles, etc. Here are some of the ways that interior design experts say you can use these shades in your home:
1. In the living room, use Pantone’s Serenity to turn the space into an almost coastal, open and airy room, perfect for combatting the stresses of the day. Calm down with soothing baby blues, grey and white combinations. Use accent rugs, throw blankets and pillows, lamps and artwork in peaceful colors. Or try a statement blue armchair or chaise lounge.
Are you ready to go green? For St. Paddy’s Day, that is? The Richmond area is filled with all kinds of activities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, from family-friendly festivals and fundraisers, to authentic Irish feasts that would please Saint Patrick himself and pubs with plenty of green drinks. Here’s a quick run-down of some of the area’s biggest and best things to do this month to explore the area, have fun and celebrate the luck of the Irish.
1. Paddy’s Palooza: This exciting family-friendly festival brings together Richmond residents of all ages, with moon bounces, pony rides and a petting zoo, face painting, local craft vendors, live music, bagpipes and Irish dancers, all for a fantastic cause. St. Paddy’s Palooza benefits the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises funds to fight childhood cancers. There will be tons of food choices, provided by Grapevine Restaurant, Gregory’s Grill, Sticks Kebob, Sweet Lew’s Kettle Corn and Gelati Celeste, and refreshing green beverages (adult and kid-friendly) will be available. Enjoy special performances by St. Andrew’s Legion Pipes & Drums, Crossroads Irish Dance, and Thistle and Shamrock Dance Academy. When you think of raising money for charity, you probably don’t think of mustaches. However, one local Richmond organization is out to change the “face” of fundraising. Mustaches 4 Kids (M4K) Richmond, a volunteer-run non-profit organization that aims to improve the lives of children, recently completed its 13th year of growing mustaches to raise money for local children’s charities. This year, Boone Homes’ own Tim Parent decided to further his involvement with helping local children and grow his own mustache in support of the amazing cause.
Throughout the year, Tim volunteers with ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation, which is the largest and most comprehensive provider of support services for children with cancer and their families. This is an organization that is very near and dear to him, which is why he decided to get involved with M4K Richmond, as 100 percent of M4K Richmond’s proceeds go directly to ASK and an assortment of other local children’s charities.
