Celebrate Labor Day Around Richmond

Labor Day is a time to celebrate the unofficial end of summer with friends and family whether it’s poolside, grilling or doing activities around town. If you’re looking for fun around town, here are some events to consider:

  • If you want to “Catch The Fun” and engage in some quality family time, the 104th Chesterfield County Fair is in full swing until September 2. While most people do go for the delicious food, there are tons of other activities such as arts and crafts, rodeos, parades, and rides.
  • The roads may be cluttered on Labor Day weekend, so why not try taking the trails. Jump on the Virginia Capital Trail for a mile or 50. Riders can cruise the trails all the way to the Jamestown Settlement from Richmond.
  • Spend the weekend, or even just a day-trip, visiting free historic sites are the area. Take a walk back in time to the battlefields and churches to see and first-hand about the places our country has grown on.

While out and about, be sure to visit a nearby Boone Homes community. Our Wyndham communities offer a staycation all on their own. Homeowners enjoy a wide variety of amenities, including tennis courts, a soccer field, basketball court, tot lots, swimming pool, gazebo, amphitheater and other gathering spaces. Residents also have the option to join the exclusive Dominion Club, which will provide them with access to the community’s 18-hole golf course, a driving range, tennis center, fitness center, swimming pool and the 28,000 square foot clubhouse, which is home to the Wyndham Grill and private dining and meeting rooms.

Our Tarrington and the James communities offer access to award-winning amenities, including tree-lined sidewalks, a 10-acre park, fitness center and clubhouse. The triple-pool complex offers a main pool with lanes for swim meets and a water slide; a toddlers’ pool with jets that send water arching over children’s heads; and an adults-only pool to provide an often-needed respite. A river front park provides even more opportunities for recreation.
