This fall, Cirque du Soleil will be performing in Richmond the weekend of Nov. 27 through 29. This Canadian-based performance company will be stopping in Richmond as part of an international tour of their new show, TORUK – The First Flight.
Toruk is a vibrant experience based around James Cameron’s Avatar. Set thousands of years before the events in Avatar, Toruk tells the story of two young Omaticaya boys who set out on an epic quest to save the Tree of Souls. It explores the theme of interconnectedness with nature and all living things through a Na’vi narrator and an exciting journey of friendship, courage and danger.
This show is written and directed by Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon and features a variety of visual experiences, including puppetry, talented acrobats and elaborate costumes. Richmond is no stranger to Cirque du Soleil’s amazing performances; in 2014, they performed their Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour in the city.
Cirque du Soleil is releasing an innovative app for Toruk, designed to enhance the audience’s pre-, during and post-show experience. Tickets for Toruk range from $28 to $120; to purchase tickets or learn more about the app, visit www.cirquedusoleil.com.
