On Saturday, May 9, beer and wine aficionados will either have a difficult decision on their hands, or will have to strategically plan out how to successfully attend two fun, local beer and wine events. The Virginia Hops & Barley Festival and the Central Virginia Wine Festival will both be held Saturday, May 9 from 12 noon to 6 p.m.
The Virginia Hops and Barley Festival is a beer festival hosted by the Powhatan Rotary Club highlighting Virginia Micro-brew beer to support local charities. The festival includes unlimited tastings to try the different Virginia Micro-brew beer, live music, food vendors and a great time. Tickets can be purchased online at www.vabeerfest.com or at the event on the day of the festival, which is held at 288 and Huguenot Trail.
The Central Virginia Wine Festival will be held rain or shine at the Innsbrook Pavilion located in Innsbrook. This year’s event will showcase 10 wineries from around the Commonwealth; live music; food and beverage concessions; beer sales; and specialty-item and arts and crafts vendors. Proceeds will benefit the general scholarship and endowment funds for the Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association. Tickets to the Central Virginia Wine Festival can also be purchased online at www.cvwf.richmondhokies.org.
