Richmond has one of America’s best botanical gardens in its own backyard, as Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden was just recognized by the Travel Channel. Right now, Richmond homeowners and visitors alike can enjoy the Garden’s unique Butterflies LIVE! exhibit, which allows you to experience the world of butterflies up close and personal.
These whimsical creatures have transformed the Conservatory’s North Wing into a wonderful world of vibrant colors that you have to see to believe! When you visit the exhibit, you can watch the butterflies feed, flutter and fly all around you, explore their preferred origins, habitats and lifecycles and peek inside a butterfly nursery, where native species emerge from their chrysalides. Younger visitors can even take part in a special Butterfly Quest, which allows them to solve the quests’ six clues as they wonder around the exhibit.
The Butterflies LIVE! exhibit is open daily from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. through Oct. 12, 2014, and it can be enjoyed with a regular admission pass to the Garden. Admission is $12 for adults; $11 for seniors 55 and better; $8 for children ages 3 through 12 and free for children under 3 and Garden members.
