The fair is coming to town! September 27 through October 6, 2013, residents of Richmond new homes will have the opportunity to play carnival games, ride a Ferris wheel, listen to live entertainment and more when the State Fair of Virginia comes to the Meadow Event Park.
Located approximately 30 minutes away in Doswell, the State Fair is an annual event for families. This year’s operating hours are:
- Friday, September 27 – 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday, September 28 – 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday, September 29 – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Monday, September 30 – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Tuesday, October 1 – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Wednesday, October 2 (Military Appreciation Day) – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Thursday, October 3 – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday, October 4 – 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday, October 5 – 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Sunday, October 6 – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The fair will provide hours of fun for the entire family with an antique tractor pull, Bob Bohm’s Family Magic Show, Bob Bohm’s Survivor Family Game Show, Circus Hollywood, demolition derby, garden tractor pull, petting zoo, Hollywood racing pigs and so much more. All concerts are free with fair admission and feature an eclectic mix of local and national performers.
Throughout the week, individuals will be competing for blue ribbons in livestock competitions, horse shows, the Miss State Fair of Virginia, sheepdog demonstrations and more.
Lastly, it wouldn’t be a fair without carnival games and rides. For the thrillseeker in all of us, Midway Madness will offer 55 carnival rides including a Ferris wheels and more. Children will have an opportunity to enjoy rides designed specifically for riders of their size in the Kidway. Carnival games located throughout Midway Madness will give attendees plenty of opportunities to test their aim while winning prizes.
