Friday October 11, 2013
This weekend, residents of our Richmond luxury homes have the opportunity to enjoy three days of music when the annual Folk Festival returns to town. Hosted at the downtown waterfront, the Richmond Folk Festival will begin on Friday, Oct. 11 and end on Sunday, Oct. 13.
Featuring a diverse line-up there is something for every music lover. Entertainers for this year’s festival include the Chuck Brown All Star Tribute Band, Nathalie Pires, The Brotherhood Singers, James King Band, Marshall Ford Swing Band and much more.
New this year, the Festival will feature a special beer brewed by Wild Wolf Brewery. Named Folktoberfest, this signature beer will be available throughout the weekend.
For those looking to bring their children or grandchildren, the Richmond Folk Festival is family-friendly with the Genworth Financial Family Area. Produced by the Children’s Museum of Richmond, this year’s family area will feature a High Seas Pirates them. Children will have the opportunity to make an eye patch, pirate hats, pirate telescope, pirate flags and treasure maps at various craft stations. Additionally, performers such as magicians, Parrots of Paradise, Theater Virginia dressed as pirates and Jeff Beatman will be on hand to provide entertainment.
The Folk Festival would not be complete without food and this year’s festival will provide the best in ethnic, regional and traditional cuisines. From Thai to German, there will be something for everyone.
A Crafts Marketplace will allow attendees to take home a souvenir from the festival with vendors selling a variety of hand-crafted goods including, soap, soy candles, tie-dyed clothing, honey, jams, paintings, prints, beaded jewelry and much more. Additionally, the festival will be selling Folk Festival posters, stickers, sweatshirts, hats and travel mugs.
