From now until Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden invites you to join it for the Dominion GardenFest of Lights. GardenFest of Lights is a holiday tradition that showcases more than half-a-million twinkling lights and hand-crafted botanical decorations. Additional highlights of this spectacular event include model trains, holiday dinners, firepit with s’mores and hot chocolate. GardenFest of Lights is open nightly from 5 to 10 p.m., except on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It’s a Wonderful Life at the Byrd

You may have seen It’s a Wonderful Life on the small screen of your TV over and over again, but have you ever experienced George Bailey on the big screen? Downtown Ice-Skating

You don’t have to travel to New York City to experience holiday ice skating. Nestled in the heart of downtown Richmond, RVA On Ice is a unique ice skating experience located at the corner of Broad and 6th streets. In addition to lacing up their skates, visitors can pick out a freshly-cut Christmas tree as they support the March of Dimes, enjoy hot chocolate, eat gooey s’mores, listen to holiday music, warm-up near the pit fire or grab a bite to eat at the Snack Shack provided by Johnny Rockets. Richmond Ballet’s Nutcracker

Watch one of the all-time favorite Christmas stories come to life when Richmond Ballet performs The Nutcracker this holiday season. From Dec. 14 to 23, 2013, Richmond Ballet will perform several shows of The Nutcrackers with tickets affordably priced from $20. After select matinee performances, attendees will have the opportunity to meet their favorite characters from the Kingdom of Sweets during Clara’s Tea Party.
