The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has expanded and nearly doubled in size!  Museum director, Alex Nyerges says “Everything about it is bigger, brighter and — with free admission– more welcoming. ”  The expanded museum has double the space for traveling exhibitions, and the new renovations have expanses of glass that allow more natural light into the museum.

The McGlothlin Wing is the primary feature in the museum’s expansion. The first major exhibit in the new wing is called Tiffany: Color and Light. The exhibition is a collection of work by renowned designer and master of glass, Louis Comfort Tiffany. Curated by the world’s leading scholars, the exhibition centers on his primary work.  Among the more than 180 objects in the exhibit are examples of his leaded glass vessels, mosaics, jewelry, and paintings.  The exhibit is on display at the VMFA until August 15.  Why not stop by and see this beautiful exhibit, and check out all the the new treasures at VMFA.
